Once again, the internet has shown its power through the #metoo movement. The trend which started in 2016 with astonishing confessions from Hollywood celebrities is lately hovering over Bollywood.  Many known faces have come under the dark allegations of sexual misconduct and harassments.

However, it is neither new nor unexpected. We all have heard about the casting couch cases and stories of exchanging body over roles in movies, or any professional positions. But now, seeing the way actors and social activities are coming forward with these issues is nothing but surprising. Where were they when a person; not necessarily women were facing these problems? Why were they suggested to remain silent? But still, it has given a ray of hope to end this circle of misdeeds and empower people to speak against it.

Soon, the wave of #metoo movement can be expected to enter Nepal. Nepali people who are worshipping Goddesses for the auspicious occasion of Dashain need to show the courage and power of Goddess Durga. This wave does not necessarily be started from any actress or journalist.

Anyone who has been swallowing this pain with fear of society and even their own family needs to come forth for once. If it could not save them from this vicious circle, it could save another life. Let the name of those people come out whom we know are guilty but still manage to escape every misdeed due to lack of evidence and inability of victims to speak against them.

All it needs is a single voice raised against them. So, as the Dashain itself specifies the victory of goods over evils, let this time the evils really end. Let’s not only hear the stories of rape and molestation but together raise voice against it. If we can share those funny memes, then we can obviously share and re-tweet to support this movement.
