Four children are among those killed when the three-storied dormitory, mainly made of bamboo and having tin roofs, at Victoria Chowk, Dharan-19 collapsed Tuesday night. There were many from neighboring India for the convention. The majority of those killed and injured are women as the three-storied structure was built for women participants. Parleys to end the political deadlock

The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML and the main opposition UCPN (Maoist) have agreed to end the protracted political crisis through a joint resolution motion in the legislature-parliament. However, the three largest political parties are yet to agree on the content of such a motion. As per the agreement reached at the meeting, the NC and UML will prepare a draft of the resolution motion and hold talks with the Maoist leaders Friday evening to forge an understanding. The political parties have also agreed to amend the constitution so as to clarify the jurisdiction of the president if necessary. But differences between the ruling NC and UML and the main opposition UCPN (Maoist) still persists as the latter has demanded that the resolution motion should mention the move by the prez on Army-chief row while the NC and UML say they are ready to talk but don’t want the president’s move discussed.
