KATHMANDU, Aug 13: The weather today is mostly cloudy throughout the country while light to moderate rainfall is likely in most of the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

There are chances of heavy to very heavy rain with thunder and lightning in a few places of Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province and in one or two places of Madesh Province today, according to MFD.

Likewise, the MFD has predicted the weather to be generally to mostly cloudy throughout the country with the possibility of the occurrence of light to moderate rainfall in most of the places of the country.

Heavy to very heavy rain with thunder and lightning has been forecast in some places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim and  in a few places of Koshi , Bagmati, Gandaki  and Lumbini Province. 

The MFD has predicted chances of extremely heavy rainfall in one or two places of Sudur Pashchhim Province.

The Kathmandu Valley has been receiving rainfall since this morning.

The axis of monsoon trough is currently located towards north (near Nepal) from the average position. According to the MFD, Nepal experiences influences of a low pressure area surrounding the Uttar Pradesh and Bihar states of India.
