WEATHER ALERT: Westerly wind likely to cause light snowfall in hilly and mountainous area

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: The sky at most of the places of the country will remain partly to generally cloudy while some places of high-hilly and mountainous areas will experience light snowfall on Thursday due to the influence of the Westerly wind. 

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather is likely to be partly to generally cloudy in the hilly region and partly cloudy in the remaining parts of the country. Similarly, light snowfall has been predicted in some places of high-hilly and mountainous areas of Province 1. 

Meteorologist Samir Shrestha said the influence of the Westerly wind would become weak gradually from Thursday evening. "The weather will improve from Friday and there is no possibility of rainfall soon," he said.

The weather in Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces is partially to fully cloudy while partly to generally cloudy in the remaining provinces on Thursday. According to the Department, light snowfall has been predicted in some places of high-hilly and mountain areas of Gandaki, Karnali, Sudurpaschim provinces and Province no 1.

As per the latest details of the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature of Kathmandu Valley on Thursday is 7.4 degrees Celsius and maximum temperature 21.6 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature throughout the country has been recorded in Jumla. The minimum temperature in Jumla is minus 2.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
