KATHMANDU, Oct 14: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), which has been supporting the government remaining outside of it, has warned that it would withdraw its support if the constitution amendment bill were not registered in the Parliament before the Tihar festival.

The UDMF has been impatient of late casting doubt over the modus operandi of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal saying that his actions seem dubious even though he sounds positive.

Talking to Republic Online, Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato said the UDMF will make its protest programs public after Chhat festival if the prime minister does keep his promises.

On Thursday, leader Mahato inquired PM Dahal over telephone when the constitution  amendment proposal would be registered.

In response, Dahal said that the amendment proposal would be registered right after the Dashain festival.

“The Dashain festival is slowly coming to an end.  When will we sign the constitution amendment proposal? I had called Dahal and asked him over telephone,” Mahato told Republica online. “He has promised to register the proposal as soon as the Dashain festival ends.”

Dahal had said that he would dwell on the country’s problems in the consultation with the political parties during this Dashain festival. Even though he did not put tika, he did not consult and discuss the ongoing problems with the various parties.

On Thursday, President Bidya Devi Bhandari had exchanged greetings at Sheetal Niwas with the top leaders of the major three political parties where they held a light discussion on the political issues of the country.
