We can build a prosperous nation through development of small entrepreneurship: Minister Regmi

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Uma Regmi said that women should focus on building a prosperous country through the development of micro-entrepreneurship by mobilizing local resources and manpower.

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Uma Regmi said that women should focus on building a prosperous country through the development of micro-entrepreneurship by mobilizing local resources and manpower.


Speaking at the 18th Annual General Assembly and eighth Convention of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Associations of Nepal (FWEAN), Minister Regmi discussed the contribution of micro-enterprises not only in the field of nation's policy making and women empowerment but also in the self-reliant economy through trade and businesses.


Minister Regmi said that in the current situation where one-third of the seats are reserved for them, women should be given the same rights as men through entrepreneurship and skill-based and technical training. She lauded the important role played by the federation in enabling women entrepreneurs to move towards self-reliance along with the development of entrepreneurship while billions of rupees are being spent annually for the import of clothing and food items.

Similarly, FWEAN President Niru Raimajhi Khatri assured that the newly elected working committee would effectively take the FWEAN to new heights. She said that the new leadership would focus on industry development, business planning, financial access, facilitation and development of consulting as well as entrepreneurship and sustainable development.


FWEAN First Vice President Shobha Gyawali expressed confidence that the new working committee would continue its contribution from the field of entrepreneurship in the national and international arena with the slogan “Let’s use domestic products and increase entrepreneurship'. She stressed on the need to use entrepreneurship for the development of the country.


She said that the FWEAN has been able to make significant achievements even during the pandemic due to the support of the energetic staff of the federation. She said that the FWEAN has been successful in promoting and marketing products produced by women in the national and international markets.


Meanwhile, women's associations from across the country have also been awarded in the program. On behalf of the District Entrepreneurs Association, this year's Best Women's Association Award has been given to Banke District Entrepreneurs Association. The Banke District Entrepreneurs Association has been given a certificate of appreciation along with Rs 15,000 in cash.
