Talking to RSS, the Indonesian Ambassador to Nepal, Iwan Wiranata-Atmadja, shared that Indonesia would like to extend its helping hand to Nepal at the adverse time like this through the South-South Cooperation.
South-South Cooperation is a term coined by the policy-makers to refer to the broad framework for collaboration among the developing countries of the South in the political, economic, social, cultural, environmental and technical domains.
The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, sending a message to the Prime Minister Sushil Koirala through the Indonesian envoy Atmadja, has expressed sorrow over the loss of life and properties caused by the 7.6-magnitude quake. He has also expressed the will to support Nepal in the sector of disaster management.
President Widodo and Prime Minister Koirala had called on each other recently in Indonesia's capital Jakarta during the 10th anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership (NAASP).
Indonesia has also requested Nepal to table a proposal to the Indonesian government, citing the anticipated cooperation on the basis of the need.
Ambassador Atmadja argued that Nepal could largely benefit from the experience of Indonesia in the domain of disaster management which it was renowned for.
"Indonesia is ready to extend its support for the capacity building of its government bodies as the Health and Security sector," Atmadja stated.
Similarly, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, the Honorary Consul to Indonesia, informed that the Indonesian-aided relief materials were being distributed to the quake-victims.
He believed that Nepal could benefit from the Indonesians' expertise and experience in the areas of rescue, resettlement and management of relief materials.
Indonesian Medical Team rendering services in Satungal
Meanwhile, a 35-member medical team from Indonesian has been offering medical services to the quake-hit locals of Satungal since April 19.
Some three thousand people from Satungal and its neighbouring places as Kirtipur, Thankot, Naikap and Matatirtha have been benefited from the health camp set up by the Indonesian medical team.
KATHMANDU, May 11: Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Masashi Ogawa, has said that the government of Japan would provide maximum support for rehabilitation and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructures following the devastating 'Gorkha' earthquake occurred on April 25.
Talking to the National News Agency (RSS) today in course of inspecting the health camp established by Japanese army at Chuchchepati, Chabahil, Japanese Ambassador Ogawa said, "We are ready to be a partner of Nepal in course of facing such devastation and to play supportive role in this regard."
Stating that time and resources both are necessary for the reconstruction of the quake-hit areas, he said Japan would provide its maximum support to Nepal based on its knowledge and skills.
Ambassador Ogawa clarified that the government of Nepal has been carrying out evaluation after the disaster under the leadership of the National Planning Commission and added that the form of the support would be declared on this basis.
Expressing sorrow over the huge loss of lives and property due to the quake, he said Japan provided rescue, relief and medical teams as well as financial assistance for the time being to support the country in the hour of such calamity.
The Japanese Ambassador said a 70-member Japan Disaster Relief Rescue Team had arrive in Nepal soon after such devastation and the team has already returned home and added that a 89-member Japan Disaster Relief Medical Team and a 115-member Self-Defense Force Medical Units are active in Kathmandu and Sindhupalchowk districts.
According to the Japanese Embassy, the government of Japan has so far provided emergency relief goods including tents and blankets, worth around 2 million US dollar and 14 million US dollar as Emergency Grant Aid to the government of Nepal.
A medical team of the Japanese army has been providing health services at Chuchchepati for the past four days. Some 600 people of 161 families are staying there. RSS
