KATHMANDU, Nov 16: Nepali Congress (NC) has informed the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Devraj Ghimire that the party will not take a stance in favor of reinstating the dissolved HoR.
NC leaders told the Speaker Ghimire that there is no consensus within the party on the issue and that General Secretary Gagan Thapa opposes the move.

On Sunday afternoon, NC Chief Whip Shyamkumar Ghimire and UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula met with Speaker Ghimire. During the meeting, NC representatives explained that internal divisions including opposition from the Dr Shekhar Koirala faction and party General Secretary, prevent the party from supporting reinstatement.
UML Chief Whip Bartaula described the meeting as informal, stating that the discussions focused on contemporary political issues rather than the reinstatement question. Ghimire’s Press Coordinator Shekhar Adhikari confirmed the meeting took place but said he did not have details on the content of the discussions.
