KATHMANDU, April 7: Minister for Irrigation Bal Krishna Khand on Wednesday stressed on the need for big projects to look at multiple use of water.

Speaking at the closing of Water Week program organized by the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS) Wednesday, Khand said, “Big projects should look at multiple use of water.”

The water week was organized to raise awareness on the quality of drinking water in the country and in order to bring many stakeholders to a common platform to debate on the issue.

“We have been able to send across a message that along with quantity, quality of water matters,” Kishore Thapa, secretary of WECS said. Also, the meetings pointed at the need for protection of sources of water. “The sources are vulnerable. We have strongly urged to stop leakage during transmission and distribution."
