KATHMANDU, July 7: Ekjit Roka, the ward chairman of Mangala Rural Municipality-1, Kuhun, Myagdi, has passed the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) 21 years after withdrawing from school.
Ward Chairman Roka passed the SEE 2079 BS from Dipshikha Secondary School, Kuhun, with 2.65 GPA. Roka, who joined the SLC examination in 2058 BS, dropped out after failing. After failing in SLC, he spent eight years in Malaysia and Afghanistan for foreign employment and returned home in 2069 BS.
Ward Chairman passes SEE 21 years after quitting studies
After returning home, Roka joined the local Deurali Youth Club and other organizations. He became a candidate to contest local level elections from the CPN-UML last year. Then, he was elected as the ward chairman. Ward Chairman Roka says that after starting his social and political life, many relatives suggested that he continue his education. He participated in the SEE after realizing the need for education.
