DAMAULI, Nov 23: Chairman of Shukla Gandaki Municipality-8 in Tanahun district, Krishna Prasad Regmi, has been charged of raping a woman from the same ward.

The woman has filed a complaint at Area Police Office, Belchautara on Thursday on a charge of a rape case against Regmi. The woman’s health checkups were also performed on Thursday itself. 

Police Inspector Shrawan Kumar BK confirmed the registration of the case against ward chairman and added that investigations would be initiated as per the laws. According to Police Inspector BK, Regmi would be held after the court’s order. 

Earlier on Monday, the victim had registered a petition at the judicial committee of the municipality but later it was sent to the police citing that it does not fall under the ambit of municipality’s judicial committee. However, Regmi, has denied the allegation stating that efforts are ongoing to languish him by showing faults on his character.
