On February 13, 1996, Maoists declared people’s war and launched a war against the Royal Government who tagged CPN Maoists as terrorists. Soon, they formed their own military group and brought many into their fold to fight for their mission. Journalist Khanal has gathered all such details of the ten-year long insurgency in Nepal in War to Peace.
Khanal has arranged the pain of insurgency in sequence. He has highlighted about the 12 point agreement that went between the CPN Maoists and other political parties, people’s movement, declaration of Republic, constitutional election and the constitution drafting process.

This documentary is also inclusive of the footages from the people’s movement and the physical destruction that took place during conflict.
In not more than 40 minutes, Khanal has been able to raise various sensitive issues.
“I’ve tried concentrating mainly on the beginning of armed insurgency, peace agreement and the following years in this documentary,” journalist Khanal shared.
The documentary also promises to raise curtains from sensitive issues like abduction of journalists and teachers by former rebels. Khanal says that this documentary will come up as a voice for all those families whose children are still missing. Besides, War to Peace also discusses the Royal Massacre.
