“Walk for Nepal is envisioned as a movement and a common platform for organizing walkathons in the major cities worldwide to mobilize individuals and organizations interested in the socio-economic development of Nepal,” a press statement said.

During Walk for Nepal Boston 2011, Nepal ko Yuwa and the partnering organizations plan to mobilize at least 500 people and raise at least $20,000 in contributions.

“Nepal ko Yuwa is planning to organize more WfN events throughout the US in near future and around the world in the long-term,” added the statement. The organizer is expecting to make Walk for Nepal an annual event.

Friends of Maiti Nepal (FOMN), Empower Dalit Women of Nepal (EDWON), HELP NEPAL Network (HeNN), Nyaya Health, and Nepalese Children’s Education Foundation (NCEF) will participate in the walkathon in Boston. Rock for Nepal, an organization that aims to promote and elevate Nepali rock music scene to international standards, will present a concert at the end of the walk.
