The program was to raise awareness against global warming, to encourage eco friendly vehicles and to make an attempt to fight against Greenhouse effect. The event was also supported by Rotaract Club of Baneshwor and sponsored by Monalisa textiles, Ashley and Nestle. [break]
The program started with a documentary screening on the effects and threat of Global Warming. The rally started from KCM College in Gwarko at 8:30 am and reached Padali Community Forest in Lamatar at 11am.The route was seven kilometer long on bicycle. The rally comprised of around 100 participants on bicycles and two electric cars.
On arriving at Padali Community Forest, the volunteers who were the first, second and third year students of KCM and three members of Rotaract Club planted 500 Sal trees.

Agraj Dangal, president of KCM Social Welfare Club, said, “The idea of organizing the event was initiated by one of the members of our club and then we groomed the idea and put it in a larger scale.”
Social Welfare Club is part of KCM Student Council for the past seven years which has been organizing various events for different social causes. The main objective of “The Green Walk” was also to promote the usage of solar powered and eco friendly vehicles and transportation.
Global Warming Crisis – A Race to Win
