Visiting Indian Army Chief meets PM Oli

KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Indian Army Chief MM Naravane who is on a three-day official visit to Nepal held a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday.

At a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar, the two sides discussed age-old bilateral ties between the two countries. During the meeting, PM Oli said that Nepal wants to resolve all existing issues with India through dialogue. Naravane told the prime minister that India accords high priority to its relationship with Nepal and wishes to further enhance it.

Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal, Nepal Army Chief Purna Chandra Thapa and Prime Minister’s Foreign Relations Advisor Rajan Bhattarai were among those present in the meeting from the Nepali side while Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Vinay Mohan Kwatra and Indian officials were present from the Indian side.

Naravane is visiting Nepal at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart General Purna Chandra Thapa.

Naravane was decorated with the honorary rank of General of Nepal Army by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday afternoon amid a function at Sheetal Niwas, the president’s office.

Naravane also held bilateral talks with Nepal Army Chief Thapa at Nepal Army headquarters, Bhadrakali. He also took a mountain flight to Solumkhumbu earlier today.

Wrapping up his visit, Naravane is flying back to New Delhi today.
