Viral fever has gripped the residents of Ghoreta, Mehelkuna, Babiyachaur, Hariharpur and other VDCs in the district. [break]
Local health posts in the VDCs have been crowded by fever patients.
Some 100 to 150 people with complaints of fever from Ghumkhare, Dahachaur, Sahare, Mainataha visit Mehelkuna Primary Health Center every day, says Staff nurse Shanti Gurung.
She said along with the change in the weather, the number of patients affected by viral fever has also been increasing in the VDCs of late. Majority of the patients coming for treatment are reported to be students.
According to Chief of District Public Health Office, Mukunda Raj Gautam, teams of health workers with necessary medicine have been sent to the VDCs immediately after the office received reports of the outbreak.
Viral fever normally affects the patients for a week and locals have been suggested to drink boiled water, staying at warm place and put on warm clothes to ward off viral fever, Gautam added.
Meanwhile, Maoist combatants at the sixth division headquarters and surrounding camps in the district are also reported to have been suffering from viral fever.
