KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has been diagnosed with the dengue infection and has subsequently been admitted to Civil Hospital in New Baneshwar. According to his private physician, Dr Shivaji Silwal, there has been a noticeable improvement in his health.

Vice President Yadav had been experiencing health issues since Monday, which prompted his admission to the Civil Hospital on Wednesday evening, as his condition did not ameliorate despite initial treatment at his residence. President Ram Chandra Paudel extended his wishes for Vice President Yadav's swift recovery.

Initially, Vice President Yadav exhibited symptoms of vomiting and headaches, and food poisoning was suspected due to his consumption of sweets. Subsequently, he was tested for the virus. However, he was hospitalized on Wednesday evening after experiencing symptoms including a high fever, severe headaches, chest pain, and intermittent vomiting.

A medical team comprising Bidesh Bista and Vice President Yadav's private physician, Dr Shivaji Silwal, is overseeing his treatment. Dr Silwal reported that the results of the kidney function test are promising, and the vomiting and fever are now under control. Nevertheless, a decrease in platelets count has been observed, necessitating continued hospitalization for a day or two to address this specific issue.

Dr Silwal noted, "While other aspects of his health are stable, the platelets count has decreased as of this morning, so we will keep him in the hospital for further observation."
