KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Nepal Bangladesh Bank has appointed Nepali cricket team players Sharad Vesawkar and Basant Regmi as the bank’s brand ambassadors, on Sunday.

Chief executive officer of the bank Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana declared Nepali batsman Vesawkar and bowler Regmi as the brand ambassadors at an event organized in the bank premises in Kathmandu.

Vesawkar and Regmi will now participate in the publicity campaigns of the bank among its various other plans. Vesawkar said he was keen on making contributions in other sectors of the society besides cricket. Likewise, Regmi said he will work toward promoting the bank, besides contributing something for the benefit of the society not only as a cricketer but also as a citizen.

“I’m very thankful to the bank for choosing me as the brand ambassador. It’s great to be partnering with a bank of such big stature and reputation,” Vesawkar said.

“The few meetings that I’ve had with the bank management were very exciting and I’d like to heartily thank them for their love and support towards Nepali cricket. I look forward to working with them,” he added.

Likewise, Regmi said: “As a cricketer, you are always looking for avenues where you can work with the corporate sector and help drive positive changes in the society. Together with the bank, I believe we can initiate actual projects that would impact the society in a progressive way. We won’t just be limited to poster boys, but will actually work together in figuring out where and how we can contribute back to Nepali sports. I am very excited,” Regmi added.

CEO Dhungana said the deal could inspire young cricketers to join the game and feel that there is a career in Nepal as a cricketer.
