KATHMANDU, August 12: A meeting of Chief District Officers (CDOs) of the Kathmandu Valley Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur—districts have decided to restrict both private and public vehicles from plying the roads after 8 PM starting Thursday.

The restriction will be in effect till August 24. The CDOs of the Valley took a decision to this effect after seeing a sharp rise in the number of new COVID-19 cases in the Valley in recent days.

However, vehicles belonging to essential services like ambulances, fire brigade and others can be operated round the clock. Local administration has also announced to facilitate the movement of the vehicles entering and exiting Kathmandu Valley.

Amid rising cases of COVID-19, the government has continued placing restrictions on gathering of large numbers of people, seminars and party palaces, cinema halls, clubs, and swimming pools. The schools and colleges have also been asked to conduct online classes.
