KATHMANDU, July 23: The garbage that has been piled up in the Kathmandu Valley for the past one month is being picked up today.
The solid waste collection was halted for around a month in lack of space for garbage management after the Nuwakot-based Sisdole landfill site was packed with garbage.
The worsening road condition caused by incessant rain also resulted in disruption of regular management of solid waste. It took some more days to manage waste due to maintenance of the road leading to Sisdole.
The Kathmanu went stinking due to rampant solid wastes. It has also affected the life of people.
Joint Spokesperson of Kathmandu Metropolis, Nawaraj Dhakal informed that the solid waste is being picked from different parts of the Valley smoothly. ---
