KATHMANDU, May 6: A meeting of various students unions urged the Unified CPN (Maoist) to vacate the educational institutions that are currently being occupied by the Maoist cadres.

The meeting also drew other political parties’ attention to this effect.[break]

The meeting held at All Nepal National Free Students Union- Sixth ANNFSU (6th) condemned the act of keeping party cadres in colleges and schools across the country for political interest.

Similarly, the meeting urged the Maoists to withdraw the movement as it has affected the normal life across the country.

The unions also expressed their solidarity with the general public which has been defying the general strike.

“The mandate of Janaandolan 2006 is to bring new constitution through constituent assembly and lead the peace process to a logical conclusion.

But the Maoist’s general strike is against the people’s mandate,” the unions said in a joint statement.

Major student unions except the Maoist student union attended the meeting.
