Vabrousek from Czech Republic wins Himalayan Extreme Triathlon title

KASKI, May 7: Petr Vabrousek from the Czech Republic won the Himalayan Extreme Triathlon title on Sunday. In the women's category Tara Miranda Parsons from the United States claimed the title. The triathlon, considered to be the world's highest-altitude extreme sports event, started in Pokhara on Saturday morning.

KASKI, May 7: Petr Vabrousek from the Czech Republic won the Himalayan Extreme Triathlon title on Sunday. In the women's category Tara Miranda Parsons from the United States claimed the title. The triathlon, considered to be the world's highest-altitude extreme sports event, started in Pokhara on Saturday morning.  


Vabrousek finished the 3.8 kilometers swim, 150 km cycling and 43 km run in 16h 51m and 19s. The tournament started at the lake at 4 am on Saturday and ended at Lwang of Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality-8 on Sunday morning.

Similarly, in the men’s event, Enrico Moletti from Italy finished second with a timing of 17h 15m and 12s while Giovanni Bortolaso secured the third position clocking 17h 59m 32s. 


The women’s winner Parsons completed the triathlon in 18h 40m 49s. Veronika Merchant from Czech Republic finished second with a timing of 24h 28m 44s. Organized by the Himalayan Trail Nepal, the tournament was attended by 36 athletes from 22 countries from across the world, said Rikki Yonjan, the race director.
