KATHMANDU, Aug 19: On Wednesday, American author Sharon Guskin was present at Hotel Shangrila in Kathmandu to discuss about her thriller novel ‘The Forgetting Time’.
Guskin read sections from her debut novel and interacted in a Q & A session that had the presence of many international guests.
In her novel ‘The Forgetting Time’, single mother Janie suspects that her four-year-old son is possessed by a spirit. She believes that her son is a reincarnation of a murdered child. Her curiosity leads her to Dr Anderson who is familiar with cases where children could recall their past lives. Together with the doctor, Janie has to unravel the mystery behind the dead child.
Guskin’s writing has garnered much praise in America. A New York Times review has called her book “gripping, deft and moving” while People magazine appreciated the “provocative questions about maternal bonds” that the novel raises.
Guskin is in Kathmandu with her musician husband Douglas Cuomo. Cuomo is currently preparing for the Asian premiere of his opera ‘Arjuna’s Dilemma’. The opera will be produced by Nepal’s One World Theater in September. Guskin has expressed her desire to make ‘The Forgetting Time’ easily available in Nepali bookstores.
