POKHARA, Dec 30: The electricity generated from the Upper Madi Hydro Power Project based at Bahundanda of Sildujure – 9 in Kaski will be linked to the national transmission line today.
The 12.5 megawatt power generated by the hydro project with maximum capacity of 25 megawatt will be linked to the national grid. The project's one of two twine runners will be operated from today, Project's Coordinator Raj Kumar Baral said.
The power generated from the project will be linked to the national grid through the substation based at Lekhnath Municipality.
The cost of the project, which was initially started at an investment of Rs 5.28 billion, climbed to Rs 7 billion due to blockade, Madhes uprising, massive earthquake and landslides triggered by construction of a tunnel.
Project's Executive Chairman, Bijaya Malla, and China Three Gorges Corporation invested 20 and 80 per cents respectively of the total cost and started construction of the project in 2012. Minister for Energy, Janardhan Sharma, is set to inaugurate the newly constructed hydro project today. RSS
