SINDHUPALCHOWK, Nov 3: The death toll in Sindhupalchowk bus accident has climbed to 16, according to local authorities.
Twenty people who were injured in the bus accident have been undergoing treatment at Khadichaur-based Sadabahar hospital and Prathamik Swasthya Kendra, Dolalghat.
The accident occurred when the ill-fated bus (Ba 2 Kha) en route to Kathmandu from Maga Deurali area of Dolakha skidded off the highway at Sukute area along the Araniko Highway and plunged into Sunkoshi River.
The police have recovered the dead bodies of a girl and four women from the river banks. Police have intensified the rescue operation following the incident.
According to Sub Inspector of Police at Maga Deurali Prakash Pandey, the bus had left for Kathmandu at 9 am today with 34 passengers. The details of the incident are awaited.
