How was the experience of participating in a pageant?
I found the experience enriching. And it proved to be very fruitful. (Smiles) I would like to encourage other youths to get enrolled in such competitions. The one-month rigorous training helped me groom myself, as I found out.
Were you expecting to win the title?
We all tried our best, I guess. My final answer was pivotal in my winning the title. The final question was, “What do you think is the greatest relationship?” All the other four finalists affirmed that it would have to be the relationship between a mother and a son. But my
answer differed from the rest. I pointed out that it would have to be the bond of humanity. My answer must’ve struck a chord with the judges.

Could you shed light on the controversy that ensued after the winners of the competition were announced?
Dibendra Karki, who was the first runner-up, was the crowd’s favorite. So the audience was disheartened when I was named the winner. A few shuffling in the crowd ensued after the announcement was made, but the judges stood by their decision. Things happen in the heat of the moment, and one shouldn’t take it too seriously. (Smiles)
What are you busy with at the moment?
I just wrapped up filming for two music videos that were directed by Sitaram Pokharel, and I’m in talks with a few directors to work on other projects.
Your future plans?
The glamour field has always enticed me. I want to be part of this media fraternity; it’s always been one of my ambitions.
What interests you besides modeling?
Social works has always been close to my heart. I would love to get involved in an organization that works for kidney patients. My elder sister passed away due to her kidney failure, and I’m interested in campaigning for the importance of proper drinking water and kidney diseases. Personally, I enjoy trekking and cycling. I usually use my mountain bike to move around, and I’m very environment conscious.
Do you plan on taking up acting any time soon?
I’ll keep my options open. If the right project and right role comes my way – why not! Besides, the Nepali film industry is going through a transformation, and it’s gotten me excited. I recently watched the film “Mero Euta Sathi Chha: and enjoyed it thoroughly.
How has life been after winning the title?
There’s a face now with a title attached to my name now. I see passersby recognizing me. It can be a little unnerving but it’s made me more responsible. It feels great to be living your dream.
