KATHMANDU, March 1: The name of Province 1 has been proposed as ‘Kirat-Limbuwan-Sagarmatha’. Provincial Assembly member Rajendra Rai registered a proposal in the provincial assembly secretariat on behalf of the CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP).
The proposal was registered with the support of Unified Socialist provincial assembly members and former Chief Minister Rajendra Kumar Rai and JSP provincial assembly member and minister Nirmala Limbu.

Similarly, UML has also registered a proposal for the name of Province 1. UML province assembly member Ram Rana Magar has filed a proposal to rename Province 1 as Koshi. Bhumi Prasad Rajbansi of Nepali Congress is among the supporters of the proposal. Today, there is a strong possibility that Province 1 will get a name.
Today, there is an agenda for submitting the nomination proposal and deciding it. However, the meeting scheduled for 11 o'clock has been postponed for some time as the political parties are engaged in discussions to register the nomination proposal. The provincial assembly has postponed another meeting today at 1:30 p.m.
