Underground outfits spreading tentacles in Madhes again

LAHAN, Jan 5: With protests centered at city areas and district headquarters, police personnel at bordering villages with India have been relocated.

Underground outfits have started taking advantages from the security arrangements of the law enforcement agency.

Investigation into the murder of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ramesh Subba at the bordering village Baniniya suggests the murder to be pre-planned.

Subba was rushed to Rajbiraj-based Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital and was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

ASI Subba was shot dead by an underground group while he was on duty and was some 1 kilometer away from Jhutaki VDC-based police post in Saptari district.

Police said two people on a motorcycle with Indian registration number opened fire at him.

“The underground group took advantage of his loneness,” a police official probing the incident told Republica, “The nature of incident suggests he was in the hit list since long.”

Of late, underground groups have started appealing against police personnel.

Groups led by Jwala Singh and Jaya Krishna Goit have expressed hatred over police personnel for killing ‘innocent’ Madhesis.

The Goit group has already claimed responsibility for murder of ASI Subba.

Experts said the incident has signaled that underground outfits have once again started spreading tentacles in Madhes.
