KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has attributed the Kanchanpur incident to free export and import of narcotic drugs and consumption of alcohol.

Briefing the parliament about the Kanchanpur incident in New Baneshwar on Thursday, Minister Thapa said that status quoists who do not want peace, development and stability in the country are conspiring against the government by orchestrating such heinous crimes.

Thapa blamed such negative forces to have had a hand in the murder-after-rape case that took place recently in Kanchanpur.

Thapa vowed to leave no stone unturned to bring the culprits to book and take stringent action against them. He said he has already directed the local administration to this effect.

On July 27, 13-year-old Nirmala Pant had been gruesomely murdered after rape in Bhimdatta Municipality-2, Kanchanpur district.
