NEPALGUNJ, May 12: The parents of Bhumisara Kunwar of Banke who died on Friday after poisoning herself on May 6, have accused her in-laws and husband of provoking her to commit suicide.

Apparently, Bhumisara who lived in Baijnath Rural Municipality-8, was repeatedly tortured by her in-laws. According to her neighbors, Bhumisara's husband Mohanlal and mother-in-law Kali Kumari Kunwar used to torture her quite often.

They speculate that Bhumisara must have poisoned herself after being unable to bear the abuse. Irate family members have demanded a proper investigation and stern action against the perpetrators. “Her husband and mother-in-law started beating and torturing her just after a few months of their wedding,” said Dil Bahadur Oli, the father of the deceased, adding, “She repeatedly complained against her in-laws to us. She took such a step after being unable to bear the abuse.”

Oli argues that her daughter's husband and mother-in-law must be punished as provoking someone to commit suicide is a crime. He also suspects that the accused may have beaten her brutally and then fed her the poison. Oli and his family members have been pressurizing the Area Police office (APO), Dhanauli, to investigate the case.
