KATHMANDU, March 25: Central Committee (CC) meeting of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), first since the party´s eighth general convention held in Butwal last month, kicked off in its party headquarters, Balkhu, Wednesday.
A CPN-UML source said two convention-related controversies, among other issues, were prominently raised during the meeting.

The meeting is going to discuss an appeal registered by its junior leader Kashi Nath Adhikari, who claims that he was not declared a winner in the 115-member central committee despite securing more votes in the convention than other winning candidates. Secondly, the meeting is discussing controversy surrounding election of leader Amrit Kumar Bohora as the head of the disciplinary committee. Bohora is accused of winning the coveted post without filing his candidacy in the first place.
According to a statement issued by the party office, the meeting that will resume Thursday morning will also discuss a controversy surrounding a suspicious ballot box found at the general convention venue.
The meeting is also going to name members for the party politburo and secretariat.
