KATHMANDU, June 23: A youth leader close to former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has registered a new political party.
The youth leader Jiwan Rai has received registration certificate of the new party from the Election Commission on Wenesday. A former leader of CPN-UML affiliated All Nepal National Free Students Union, Rai has registered a new political party called CPN (United). The aim of the new political party is said to unite all fringe leftist parties in the country.

Rai had filed an application at the EC to register a new political party on May 20 when the intra-party rift between UML Chairman K P Oli and senior leader Nepal had reached at its peak. The political party has received pen as its election symbol.
The new political party has a 25-member central working committee. While Kalpana Gurung is Vice Chairperson, Binod Khulal is General Secretary of the party. Similarly, Ain Bikram Kunwar and Sushil Khanal are Secretary and Treasuer of the party, respectively.
