UML-Maoist Center unity was only a short-term deal: Pokhrel

KATHMANDU, August 27: CPN (Maoist Center) Standing Committee Member Lila Mani Pokhrel has said that the party's unity with the CPN-UML in the past was carried out with a strategic approach. 

In a ward meeting of Madhyapurthimi Municipality-4 on Thursday, Pokhrel said that the unity between the parties was carried out despite knowing that the parties would not stay together for a long time.

“The unity between the two parties was done without considering the long term effects. The unity between CPN-UML and Maoists was only a short-term agreement,” Pokhrel said

According to Municipal Coordinator Bijay Shrestha of the party, a 21-member Madhyapurthimi-4 Ward Committee chaired by Pradeep Shrestha and a 23-member Young Communist League (YCL) of the same ward led by Sushil Shrestha were elected.
