POKHARA, Dec 17: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal warned that the protest orchestrated by the main opposition CPN-UML could go against the democratic republic inviting regression in the country.
“I think, the protest against the constituent amendment bill being orchestrated by the CPN-UML party is heading against the democratic republic and this could invite regression in the country,” PM Dahal said, responding to journalists in Pokhara, on Friday.

CPN-UML has been protesting against the constituent amendment bill right after the government registered the bill in parliament on December first week. Likewise, other some political parties are also protesting against the amendment bill as it proposes hiving-off the hill districts from Province 5 and including those districts in Province 4.
He said that the government would not back away from the amendment process despite the protests. “The amendment bill can be revised through parliamentary process but we will not back away from our decision on the constitution amendment bill,” he said.
The prime minister also said that the government is preparing to finalize the date of local election. “As per the provision in the new constitution, first we will hold local election and then will hold other elections simultaneously,” he further said.
