The CC members also criticised Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam, who leads UML in the government, for deteriorating law and order situation.
The UML leaders said the government is failing because of Maoists, who – as they put it – have been attacking UML cadres throughout the country.
UML General Secretary Jhala Nath Khanal told the meeting that reactionary forces are trying to be active, pro-disintegration and regional forces are trying to have their sway in the Terai and pro-ethnic parties are being active in the eastern hills.
Khanal also said the government hasn´t been able to deliver because of "irresponsible, extremist, anarchic and immature" Maoists. "It has been increasingly difficult to remain in this kind of government," he said.
After the meeting, UML leader Ishwar Pokharel told journalists that the Maoists haven´t implemented a number of past agreements and commitments. This, said Pokharel, has led UML to review whether it should continue to remain in the government.
Responding to concerns of UML leaders, DPM Gautam urged them to understand the "complex situation" of the country. Sources quoted Gautam as telling the meeting that he alone couldn´t bring about changes and urged the leaders to understand his limitations.
The meeting also condemned an attack by pro-Maoist unionists on the Himalmedia office and journalists.
