JHAPA, March 3: CPN-UML leaders have arrived in the district to participate in the Mechi-Mahakali campaign set to begin from Saturday.
Aimed at dismissing the rumors that CPN-UML is anti-Madhes, UML top leaders including UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Bamdev Gautam, Yogesh Bhattarai, Amrit Bohara, Lal Babu Yadav, Mukunda Nepane have arrived in Jhapa district for Mechi-Mahakali campaign.
“All the leaders will arrive by today evening,” UML leader Gopal Budhathoki said, adding, “We have completed all the preparations at the local level.”

The Madhes-centric campaign will begin from Kankadvitta tomorrow. The leaders will launch a door-to-door campaign to dismiss the illusion that the UML is against Madhesi people. The three-week-long campaign will hold mass meetings, interactions at Kankadvitta, Birtamod, Damak, various districts in the Tarai before it will wrap up at Surkhet.
Preparations are underway to gather around 25,000 people at the inaugural gathering, said Budhathoki.
