UML emerges victorious in Mahalaxmi Municipality

LALITPUR, May 22:  CPL-UML mayoral candidate Rameswor Shrestha and deputy mayoral candidate Nirmala Thapa have won the election held on May 14.

LALITPUR, May 22:  CPL-UML mayoral candidate Rameswor Shrestha and deputy mayoral candidate Nirmala Thapa have won the election held on May 14.


Shrestha garnered 7764 votes, compared to 6805 votes for his closest rival Nepali Congress mayoral candidate Mahesh Khadka.

Likewise, Thapa won the race for deputy mayor of Mahalaxmi Municipality with 8636 votes, compared to 6305 votes garnered by her closest rival NC deputy mayoral candidate Laxmi Shrestha.


According to returning officer Ram Prasad Ghimire, CPN-UML has also succeeded in clinching ward chairperson positions in 8 of 10 wards in Mahalaxmi Municipality.


Nepali Congress and CPN(Maoist center)  won the race for ward chairperson in ward 6 and 10 respectively.
