KATHMANDU, July 26: The main opposition CPN-UML has demanded an investigation into the 100-kg gold smuggling case.


The UML lawmakers rose from their seats demanding an investigation into the gold smuggling case as soon as the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) began on Wednesday.

Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire then allowed UML Chief Whip Padam Giri to put forth his party’s views. Addressing the parliament meeting, Giri demanded an investigation into the gold smuggling case.


"We should investigate Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the leader of the party in power, and his son in the gold case," he said. Giri also said that Mahara used to call the customs officials time and again.
