KATHMANDU, July 5: CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal has said that the party is in favor of further consolidating the present government and making it a government of national consensus.

"This cabinet led by Madhav Kumar Nepal of CPN-UML itself will be further consolidated and converted into a government of national consensus," Khanal said at a press meet organized at the party´s head office in Balkhu.

He stressed the need for further strengthening the unity among the three largest parties in the Constituent Assembly -- Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML.

"These three parties must come together collaborate by forgetting their differences," he said, adding, "This is the only right thing left for us for completing the crucial tasks of writing a new constitution and concluding the peace process on time."

He said his party wants to improve relations with the Unified CPN (Maoist) and reach an agreement with the Maoists for ending the parliamentary obstruction.

Dismissing intra-party feud within CPN-UML over joining and forming the government, Khanal said the party would not tolerate if anyone speaks against the government.

It is too early to criticize the government, he said. "At least we should wait until 100 days," he added.
