DAMAK, Feb 3: CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has accused the government of wasting time instead of making preparations to hold the elections on time.
He also blamed the government for engaging in a game with the intention not to hold the elections. The UML chair was addressing the 2nd full meeting of cadres of UML Constituency-1 in Jhapa.
Alerting to what he said achievements made so far would be at risk if the elections fail to take place on time, he said the elections should not be postponed at any cost, warning of any action against election deferral.
"The government is saying that it wants to organize the elections. On the other hand, it says the polls cannot take place until the constitution amendment is passed. The government is exhibiting double standard," he said.
He also claimed that the country will plunge into a severe political crisis if the elections fail to take place within the stipulated time (11 months remaining).
Also on the occasion, UML leader Subash Chandra Nembang said the present constitution has accommodated demands of all and that there is no point of amending it. RSS
