The major political parties have yet to forge consensus on crucial issues of the constitution writing and peace process though the three months extended tenure of the Constituent Assembly (CA) is due to expire on August 31. [break]
Earlier, the parties also failed to deliver their promises of peace and constitution writing during the one-year extended time of the CA.
The cadres of the CPN (UML) present in the party’s national gathering that began from Saturday in Dhulikhel of Kavre district also expressed dissatisfaction over such expediencies of the parties and the leaders.
Lekh Raj Gautam, central member of the UML’s youth wing--Prajatantrik Rastriya Yuba Sangh, Nepal--expressed displeasure toward the factionalism in the political parties.
Former chairperson of the All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU), Ram Kumari Jhankri, also criticized the leaders for negating the constitution writing process, but developing a separate coterie and promoting factionalism in the party by targeting the leaders of same party.
Almost all leaders and cadres in the Dhulikhel gathering have expressed their opinions for and against the UML chief Jhala Nath Khanal, said participants.
Though the gathering was organized to collect the participants’ opinions for party’s statute amendment, the UML leaders are criticizing the rival faction in the party.
In the gathering, Prime Minister and UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and the party standing committee member KP Sharma Oli also expressed conflicting opinions.
