NEPALGUNJ, Feb 20: British ambassador to Nepal Andrew Hall said Friday that British government will continue its cooperation to the government of Nepal as long as it remains democratic. [break]

Envoy Hall, who visited the midwestern region to take stock of the conflict victims’ situation, said the current government would not become autocratic as it was formed through a democratic process.

He, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the way the peace process is moving. “The peace process has not been able to address the issues of conflict victims. I met the victims of the conflict and the scars of the conflict have not yet healed. This is not good for the peace process,” he said.

He said mistrust between those involved in the conflict and society should be removed immediately and reconciliation should be found.

He expressed serious concern over the deteriorating security situation in the Tarai and said the government should create congenial atmosphere to bring the agitating Tarai groups to political mainstream.
