However, post UKBA´s new decision, only those students who want to pursue foundation degrees and degree and post graduate courses can apply for visas. [break] UKBA has also decided to accept applications from child students.
"We welcome UKBA´s new decision," said Rajendra Baral, general secretary of the Education Consultants Association of Nepal (ECAN). "This decision has paved the way especially for students who genuinely want to pursue degrees at reputed international universities."
However, according to Baral, the decision will not open the door to the UK to many students wanting to pursue vocational and diploma courses. UKBA is yet to accept applications for English language courses. The number of students pursing English language courses had also been high.
"The acceptance of applications from child students does not make any difference," Baral said. "The number of child students was never significant. Generally, only children whose parents are in the UK apply for visas."
In the face of a sharp increase in the inflow of students from Nepal, Bangladesh and north India into the UK, UKBA on February 1 had announced suspension of Tier 4 visa applications.
UKBA´s decision to suspend Tier 4 visa applications was to investigate the high number of applications submitted by ´fake´ students who ´wanted to enter the UK to work rather than study´.
