BIRATNAGAR, May 22: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has warned that it will launch ´decisive struggle´ if its demand for completion of the peace process and constitution writing are not met.

The UDMF had floated a four-point condition for the extension of the term of Constituent Assembly (CA) on Saturday.

The conditions include timely completion of the peace process, guarantee of the promulgation of democratic constitution, federalism and formation of a national consensus government. [break]

Addressing a press conference organized in Biratnagar on Sunday, Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur said they are not just seeking Maoist commitments on paper but credible basis for the successful conclusion of peace process and constitution writing.

Madhesi People´s Right Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar said peace process and constitution writing were left incomplete as all three governments formed in the past three years focused only on prolonging their stay in power. ´´Even the current government has failed to do anything substantial regarding the peace process and constitution writing. This substantiates the need for a national consensus government,´´ added Gachchhadar.

Speaking at the same function, Sadbhawna Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato said everyone should be ready to go for fresh elections if the current government fails to prepare concrete ground for the successful conclusion of the peace process and constitution drafting process.
