During talks with the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) on Saturday, front leaders argued that NC should take initiation to solve the current turmoil as it emerged during the NC-led government.
“Constitution writing completed during the NC’s government,” front leader Mahendra Raya Yadav said, “45 people received martyrdom during protest. Thus, it should work to resolve the crisis.”
NC leaders told the front that the party will press the government to speed up constitution amendment process.
NC Central Member Mahesh Acharya, who attended the talks, opined that demands of the front can be addressed by amending the constitution.
On delineation of provinces, the leader said it can be sorted out through political consensus after Federal Commission submits its reports.
NC Acting President Ram Chandra Paudel, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Secretary Prakashman Singh and leader Mahesh Acharya attended the talks. From UDMF, Chairman of Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) Mahanta Thakur, Chairman of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) Upendra Yadav and senior leader Ashok Rai among others held talks with the main opposition party.

The NC has been reiterating that the proposal submitted to the Parliament earlier by former NC-led government to amend the new constitution expecting to end protest in the Tarai.
