KATHMANDU, June 4: Journalist and writer Badri Binod Prateek, who recently published his novel, 'Udan' has shared that exploring female psyche and explaining it by a male writer was quite a challenging task.
Prateek has tried to look into female psyche and depict it through a female protagonist in his 296-page novel. "I have sincerely tried my best to understand and explain it properly. But, I found it quite a challenging task," the writer said in a recent discussion on the novel 'Udan'. He therefore took support of his mother, wife, sisters and other female members to understand it. "Specially, my wife's support helped me a lot to understand various important aspects of complexities faced by women that I never imagined through that lens," he shared. "I realized that it is really difficult for a male to understand female psychology."

Prateek said he created a female protagonist to tell female stories such as how innocent girls and teenagers become easy prey for some cunning men.
The writer, who is in his sixties, has also covered issues like how young people are cheated through social media. "I found people staying abroad have deceived innocent youths back in Nepal using social media networks like Facebook and Viber. This is emerging as a major problem in our society and I have tried to show this in the novel," he said.
Journalist Gangadhar Parajuli, who commented on the book, said youngsters and women can find the story interesting. Parajuli also found present socio-political picture presented beautifully in the novel.
Gopal Dhwoju of Kosheli Prakashan that published the novel said they were excited by the initial response from the readers.
