UCPN-Maoist's concern over reviving conflict-era cases

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The UCPN-Maoist has said it has been alarmed over the raising of conflict era cases, as it was against the spirit of the Comprehensive Peace Accord and interim constitution.



The central committee meeting of the party held at party headquarters, Koteshwor, on Sunday concluded that the conflict time cases which need to addressed through the commission on truth and reconciliation was raised again in an attempt to foil coming Constituent Assembly elections.[break]



The party has demanded the immediate formation of the truth and reconciliation as per the recent 11-point agreement among the political parties.



The activities carried out relating to the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Phujela, Gorkha, have dampened the spirit of the Peace Accord and the Interim Constitution, said party Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota, adding that the meeting also discussed the plan to launch another public relations campaign based on the feedback of the recent one month long campaign. The campaign would mobilize the sympathizers, cadres and leaders of the party.



Although the meeting was said to be addressed by senior leaders including chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, it ended up discussing the responsibilities of the district in-charges.



The central committee is to meet next on Monday at 11:00am, informed Spokesperson Sapkota.
