Shivchandra Kushwaha, in collusion with the district education office (DEO), has reportedly taken aid subsidy of Rs. 1,000,000 allocated for Sahid Grija Pati Kanahiya Primary School in the district and used it for constructing the building of Shree Grija Pati Primary School in Bariyarpur, Bara, which was established in the name of his wife Grija Pati. She is still living. Kushwaha is also district coordinator of the UCPN-Maoist. [break]
The Department of Education (DoE) had extended the aid subsidy on February 25 following a cabinet decision on February 7 to provide aid to 31 schools, including Sahid Grija Pati Kanahiya School, which were established in memory of martyrs of the Madhes movement.
Earlier, Arun Kumar Koirala, district education officer, had said there was no Sahid Grija Pati Kanahiya Primary School in the district. He even said the money forwarded by DoE in aid of the school was likely to get frozen, as the school did not exist.
However, four days before the last fiscal year came to an end, politician Kushwaha managed to take away the aid amount allotted for Sahid Grija Pati Kanahiya School, said Koirala.
It is learnt that Kushwaha established Shree Grija Pati Primary School in Bariyarpur, Bara in the name of his living wife in 2007. He has been running the school in a hut.
He has reportedly embezzled amounts allotted for Sahid Grija Pati Kanahiya School at different times.
