Organizing a press conference in the Party's Central Office at Paris Danda in the capital city, UCPN (Maoist) Vice-Chairperson Narayankaji Shrestha unveiled the code.As per the code of conduct, the ministers are barred from appointing their kith and kin or family members as their personal secretaries.
The disciplinary guidelines have also endorsed the idea of discharging ministerial responsibilities, taking into account the greater interest of the nation rather than the party's.
With the issuance of the new code of conduct, the ministers from the UCPN (Maoist) are now obliged to discharge their duty in line with the prevailing constitution, acts and laws.
Furthermore, the code is also expected to encourage the ministers to devise immediate and long-term work plans of their respective ministries in accordance with the 14-point and 8-point agreement inked before forming the current government.
The ministers are aware not to indulge in the financial irregularities. They are pressed to make public their private properties within the 10 days of their appointment and 10 days upon the completion of their tenure.
Among the vital points of the code of conduct, the party has adopted the guidelines curbing the foreign junkets and discouraging the participation of its ministers at the public events as prize distribution, felicitation programme and inaugurations among others.
The Party has directed its ministers to abide by the diplomatic code of conduct and not to misuse the government facilities, including the government vehicles.
The ministers from the party are directed to submit monthly progress report when it comes to their roles and responsibilities.
Meanwhile, UCPN (Maoist) today unveiled 15-point guidelines encouraging the ministers to take into account the national sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.
Speaking at the press conference, UCPN (Maoist) Vice-Chair Shrestha said, "This government is not an ordinary government. It is entrusted with the responsibility to implement the newly promulgated constitution. It is also accountable to take various disgruntled Madhesh-centric parties into confidence."
He asserted that a stern action will be taken against the ministers who overlook these two fundamentals of the incumbent government.
The UCPN (Maoist) ministers are further urged to be effortful towards resolving the current crisis of the daily essentials, including the petroleum products.
Also, speaking to the journalists, General-Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara shared that ministers were directed to carry out their responsibilities taking into the account the national interest.
On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi pledged that he will leave no stone unturned to work in the favour of the country and countrymen, including prompting the completion of the under-construction hydro electricity projects. RSS
