UCPN Maoist enforces Chitwan banda

CHITWAN, July 2: UCPN-Maoist, Chitwan, has called Chitwan district banda on Monday demanding action against the guilty, who opened fire on cadres of the party on June 30.



Transport services, campuses and schools have been completely shut down due to the banda or general strike.[break]



Banda enforcers have halted traffic at Pulchowk in Narayangadh along the East-West Highway from 5:30 am on today.



Similarly, the banda enforcers have obstructed transport services at different parts of Bharatpur along the East-West Highway including Chaubiskothi, Narayangadh, Anptari and Ratnanagar of Muglin road section and main market areas of Chitwan.



Vehicles to and from Pokhara and Kathmandu, heading for other districts through Chitwan, have been stranded on the way.



According to Chitwan In-charge of UCPN-Maoist, Ghanashyam Dahal, the banda will continue till 5:00 pm.



The bullet was fired in a clash that took place between cadres of UCPN-Maoist and the newly formed CPN (Maoist) over the issue of party office on Saturday.



Two cadres of the UCPN-Maoist were injured in the incident. Both the parties are blaming each other for the firing.



Investigation into the case is underway, said police.



Cadres of the UCPN-Maoist had also organized a chakkajam (transportation halt) in the district to protest the incident for an hour from 10:00 am on Sunday.
